About the Owner

Nice to meet you — I'm Yasumoto, owner of Newtown Records.

For 30 years, I worked in the music industry as an A&R, discovering, nurturing, and delivering countless talented artists and creators to the world.

Now, that same person spends his days digging through crates of records.

As a child, my family's house was always filled with records. Showa-era pop songs, anime soundtracks — every time the needle dropped, the sound that filled the room became the origin point of my relationship with music. Now, I've come to want to touch those sounds from that time once again with my own hands, and share them with someone new.

This shop exists because of the support and guidance of so many people — mentors, colleagues, and the artists and creators I've worked alongside over the years. I'm writing this introduction with the hope that you, reading this now, might become a new friend in music.
