About the Owner

Nice to meet you, I'm Niwa, owner of Newtown Records.

For 30 years, I've worked in the music industry as an A&R, discovering, nurturing, and delivering countless talented artists and creators to the world.

And now, that same person is digging through records.

As a child, my family's home was overflowing with records — Showa-era pop, anime songs. Every time the needle dropped, that sound filled the room, and it became the origin point of my relationship with music. It's precisely because I've spent my career in A&R that I can now truly appreciate what made those records so special: the intricate cutting, the tight and precise grooves, the sheer skill of the musicians, and — for recordings from that particular era — the sheer density of sound that analog recording captured. I've come to want to hold that greatness in my hands again, and share it with someone else.

I hope that whoever reads this will become a new companion in music. With that hope, I'd like to say hello.
